Lifting Up Vets was founded as a response to an urgent need and is rooted in the personal life experience of the founder and her family. A wife of a U.S. Army Ranger Veteran, whose worked as a Housing Coordinator for unhoused veterans and their families and as a Mental Health Recovery Specialist. Pamela Wilson-Williams has seen the needs of veterans be ignored and downplayed. Through my family's personal experiences, we had to maneuver the VA System while facing many hardships. My husband and I did our part to help others while in our own struggles. We provided help to at-risk veterans by giving out food, hygiene packets, sleeping bags and tents. Our deep personal connection as a military family we know the importance of showing compassion, empathy, and LUV for those that have served our country. We consider it an honor to help other veterans who are in need and assist them to navigate VA services, provide resources and offer a hand up.
Being raised in Los Angeles, Pamela witnessed the change in the rising numbers of homeless veterans. Hearing all about the resources she became overwhelmed with the process of finding assistance when in need. The main issue being affordable housing. This is where she wanted to give back the most. To offer a safe place for veterans and support them in their time of need. She believes that it’s a human right to have a place to call home and array of other supported services to Veterans at their most vulnerable times.
At Lifting Up Vets, we believe in leaving no veteran behind. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to provide a safe and nurturing environment where veterans can find the support they need. Whether it's assisting with healthcare, mental health counseling, job placement, or navigating the complex VA system, we are here every step of the way. While homelessness hasn’t dropped in recent years, it remains a problem among veterans, alongside unemployment, post-traumatic stress and other reintegration issues. Seventeen veterans a day commit suicide in the United States. We understand suicide is a complex problem, with no single cause and no single solution. But it is preventable.
We also understand that veterans' families also make great sacrifices. That's why we extend our resource support to spouses, children, and parents of veterans. We offer a range of resources, to help veterans and their families thrive and rebuild their lives.
